David is serving his second term in office as Council District 1. He is a Mount Vernon transplant from Norris City, IL who fell in love with the city after relocating for work. David and his wife Ciara have ​two child​ren, Emersyn & Easton. He is a Christian who wants to first honor God in all that he does and to do all things unto the Lord. 

He believes in common-sense thinking, taking a team-based approach to problem solving, and making decisions with decades in mind instead of shorter term thinking. In addition to being involved with many organizations, he and his wife both also run businesses and know what it's like to build something from nothing.

He believes in limited government, conservatism, and considers his role to be one of an earpiece. His goal is to listen well, synthesize what the community wants and needs, and be a voice for communicating and bring to life things that enhance our citizens lives as well as it's appeal to potential future generations.
