Imagination Station at College Park is located on the grounds of the Alexandrian Public Library. The Imagination Station was built in 2000 by the community of Mt. Vernon. In May of 2010, the Library Board and the Mt. Vernon-Black Township Parks and Recreation Department partnered up to maintain the playground. The Parks Department with some help from volunteers are bringing the playground back to life. In September 2010, the Library Board held a 10 year anniversary/rededication ceremony.

Twenty-four years ago, our community came together to create the Imagination Station at the Alexandrian Public Library. In the intervening years, the playground has been loved and beloved by so many who came to gather, interact, and play imaginatively. However, due to ongoing safety concerns with the aging structure, the City has made the difficult decision to deaccession the playground, effective immediately. We ask that visitors respect the posted signage and no longer use the playground.

We are grateful to all the many volunteers that spent so much time working on the playground. Unfortunately it has degraded beyond repair.

We are already in the planning stages of what will come next in this space for the community – stay tuned!

Kimball Park is located at the corner of Kimball and Sycamore Streets. This neighborhood park features a playground, swing set and park benches. The park is open from 6:00am to 11:00pm daily.

Mt. Vernon Bark Park Sign up your dog for access to the new MV Bark Park, a fenced-in area designed for off-leash activities. Inside the park, there is a "small dog" area and a "big dog" area to keep the dogs as safe as possible.

The MV Bark Park is located at Brittlebank Park, just south of Brittlebank Pool. (It's the large white fence, you can't miss it!) This is a membership-based service: in order to protect the safety of all involved, those interested will need to register with the Park Department prior to using the park.

The registration process includes reading and signing off on the rules, providing you and your dogs info, signing a waiver, and providing the most recent shot records for your dog. The annual fee is $10 for the first dog, $5 for every additional dog up to four total dogs. The registration will be processed and you will be sent the key code, via email, to gain access to the park.

The MV Bark Park will be open dawn to dusk everyday. Renewal of your annual feel will be required in January of each year.

Please Note: use of the park is at your own risk, there will not be an attendant on duty. To keep the park safe and usable please report any issues or incidents to the Parks Office at 812-838-3691.
